What you'll walk away with

Module 01 — The Landscape

Where we are now

  • Research-backed review of where we are nowA clear-eyed look at current maternal care data, common practice patterns, and what's shifted in recent years — so you start from facts, not fear.
  • Green flags in your care practiceThe concrete signs that a provider or facility supports informed, collaborative care — so you know what to look for and ask about early.
  • What you need to know before you walk inThe essential context and questions that set the tone for every appointment that follows.
Module 02 — Communication & Health Literacy

Ensuring you are heard

  • Effective communication strategiesDescribe your symptoms, pain levels, and concerns so your care team understands your needs accurately and acts promptly.
  • Translating medical termsDemystify common OB/GYN and hospital terminology so you can follow every conversation with confidence.
  • Patient self-advocacyPractical, respectful ways to ask questions, voice concerns, and make sure your preferences are heard and documented.
Module 03 — Live Practice

Test it, before you need it

  • Small-group breakout practiceTry the scripts and frameworks you just learned in real scenarios, with direct feedback from peers and facilitators — not just theory.
  • Share your practice experienceHear how others in your group are navigating similar decisions, and share what's coming up for you.
  • Reconvene: reflections & Q&ABring what came up in your breakout back to the full group and get direct answers from Dr. Sennaar before you go.

Questions before you commit

I've already had a difficult experience. Is this still for me?
Yes. The boundary-setting scripts and the "time-out" technique were shaped in part by patients who'd been through exactly that. This meets you where you are, first pregnancy or not.
Is this only for first-time parents?
Not at all. Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fourth, the framework for being heard by a care team applies every time.
Is this a substitute for medical advice?
No. This workshop teaches communication and advocacy skills — it doesn't replace your provider's clinical guidance. Think of it as the toolkit for getting the most out of every conversation you have with them.

Your health, your journey.

Step into your birth experience feeling informed, supported, and confident — with a care team that hears you.
